Day 5 :) Success!

Well this afternoon finds me exhausted beyond all words! Today went off without a hitch! We had 15 people in attendance :) + Nathan and two other teenagers 3 people scoffed and refused to participate and said they didn't want to pay extra even though they'd have plenty of notice (seriously.. It was $2/head for morning tea and $2.40/card!) I cannot believe the creations these ladies came out with! I had two cards on the table showing how I had made them, then did a step by step demonstration of the card, and a brief talk on Stampin' Up!® and let them create away and have fun! I covered my costs which was great and had a great time. Please have a look below at the lovely cards the ladies made xoxo photo

Day 4 Part III

Yay slowly getting there!! All my stuff is packed in the car that I need. Hedgehog slice done apple sour cream slice done ham & spinach mini quiches done scones cooking! I am exhausted!

Day 4 Part II Spinach & Bacon Mini Quiches

Yummmm I love these.... This is the recipe from BestRecipes.com I always edit it to suit my needs. Today I didn't have any puff pastry so am trying them with shortcrust pastry. I also had a lot more ingredients today - so I added extra spinach, bacon, onion and added some cream to it too - just a dash to make it tasty :) Recipe Puff Pastry 4 rashes of bacon, diced 4 eggs 1 large onion, diced finally 3 large spinach leaves, shredded (I had a zillion leaves lol) 1 C grated cheese Salt & Pepper to taste (and I just realised I hadnt put that in, our bacon was from our local butcher in Tamworth - they smoke it on the premises and was salty enough) Preheat oven to 180 degrees. In a medium saucepan, add a little oil and sautee bacon and onion. Turn off the heat and add spinach and wilt it. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Cut small circles of pastry to fit the bottom of your muffin/cupcake tray, and place into the trays.- Add 2 T of mixture (more if you are using muffin trays). Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until firm & brown (or in my ovens sake half the day grr) ****************************** On another note: Hedgehog Slice - COMPLETED - IN FRIDGE Apple & Sour Cream Slice - COMPLETED - COOLING ON BENCH Quiche- COOKING

Day 4! Apple & Sour Cream Slice

Thanks to Best Recipes for this scrumptious recipe Apple & Sour Cream Slice 1 x 340gm Butter Cake Mix 125gm Butter, melted 1 x 300gm Sour Cream (can use light if desired) 1 C Coconut 2 eggs, beaten 1 x 440gm can Pie Apples Ground Cinnamon (to taste) Combine cake mix, coconut and melted butter and press into a greased 30 x 20 cm slice tin. Bake @ 180 degrees for 10-15 mins - until golden brown. Spread apple over cake base while still warm, then combine sour cream and eggs in a bowl, then pour over apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for a further 15-20 mins. Stand for 15 mins until set. Keep in the fridge! ************************************* My base is in the oven at the moment. My oven is evil and its taking longer than it should GRRRR

Day 3!

Up early :-) (Anyone who knows me knows that even though I have a nearly 2.5 year old i am still NOT A MORNING PERSON!!!) Feeling quite good actually. Both boys still sleeping (although Troy did wake up to the alarm as I set his as I wasn't sure if my phone would auto change time) Off to Tamworth shortly to church, then stocking up on baking supplies for tomorrows bakefest! Menu for Tuesday: Scones w/ Jam & Cream Mini Bacon, Spinach (Home grown) and Cheese Quiche Hedgehog Slice Apple & Sour Cream Slice Some other cupcakes :) Catch you on the flip side!

Day 2!

Just a smaller post today - if I have time I may come back later on with a second! Well the weekend is finally here! The weather has left much to be desired! Why couldn't it be super sunny and warm for the longweekend rather than overcast/cold/wet???!!??? Nate's got cabin fever and its only 11:15am! One last night of boring normal time and we are onto Daylight Savings @ 3am tomorrow morning!! YAYAY!!! 27 Sleeps til we go on holidays for 12 days ! Just going to Troy's parent's place at Gosford - really looking forward to it actually. We go down the day between our 3rd wedding anniversay & Troy's 43rd birthday! We have only been down twice in 12 months (joys of being broke!) - once for 5 days and then again quickly in Feb for a weekend! We'll be back down there again on the 23rd of Decemnber for Christmas! I really am looking forward to it! Better go (as Captain Mack says)...My Monkey needs me hahah xoxo

Day 1 ! Blogging for Octoberfest 2010!

Day 1 - Fri 01 October 2010 Here's hoping that with me participating in Blogtoberfest this year will help motivate me to blog more frequently! Today is usually Troy's RDO for the fortnight - so consequently it's usually the day that we'd head to Tamworth to grab some groceries - but today he is working to add some hours in his 'time-in-lieu' slot to make up from where he had almost two weeks off when I hurt my back in February and when we all got hit by the flu in July. So today will just be a lazy day here - I mostly need to get stuff ready for Tuesday. On Tuesday I am running Home League @ Tamworth Salvation Army and we are having a coffee, craft and cardmaking morning. It will be the first time as a Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator that I will be showing off the products and I hope I get a good response. We are making some Christmas cards, and having a really lovely morning tea spread. *************************************************************************** I have decided to edit a lot of my personal posts and remove them from my business page and post them elsewhere. Latest updates

Hi

Lately I've been in a bit of a rut with my craftiness..
I've made a taggy blanket and some breast pads for a friends baby shower gifts

I had my 1st sale for the blog selling my lovely Deessire Noire to Cass :)
I've finished a bits and bobs basketweave headband using up some old bits of wool..
And another one using Black Diva from Wooltopia

I made a card for the above mentioned baby shower

Other than that.. We've changed the office and our sons room over and everythings in the spare room..
That is going to be a job I won't be overly happy with sorting out...

I am enrolling in TAFE on Thursday - studying Certificate III in Business via Flexible Study - so at home online with a 3 hr tutorial once a week.

I am looking forward to refreshing my skills - its been 7 years since I completed Certificate II !

Vanilla Soakers, Cameras and Pinafores

Today brought a small glimpse of decent sunshine and warmth to us!
So outside we toddled today...
Nate's been begging for days to get outside into his sandpit and swingset...
We've had a little cabin fever of such here - with being stuck inside and stuck at home with my back having been sore again....
The smile on his face today was priceless when I asked him if he wanted to come outside with us!

Troy mowed part of the backyard -we live on a 3/4 acre blog in the residential area/bordering on the industrial estate.... so he mowed the "grass" as the weeds werent growing hahah
As he was whipper snipping/brushcutting what ever you want to call it lol he SOMEHOW put a crack/hole in the sandpit shell GRRR
So I had to quickly swap 80 odd kg of sand from one side to the other before it all leaked out all over the grass....

The couple that own this house are coming up next weekend to have a look at the house - as they've owned it for 4 yrs and havent seen it for nearly 3 of that.. I obliged... They're talking about woodchipping or mulching the front garden! YAY.... but means cleaning spree here we come...!!

Other than that...l I have been knitting my heart out lately..
I've been knitting my darling son a XL Vanilla Soaker...
Now that its practically finished.. I think its definately a bit too big....
I'm part way thru the first leg - thats the fiddly part of the whole pattern.
And then the 2nd leg.. and the pattern calls for a platted string for the waist..
But I'm thinking that an i-cord will be better suited - for durability if anything..
Shall take some photos tomorrow - pending sunlight conditions...
Troy seems to think that he knows where our SLR Camera is hidden :)
I'm rather chapped about that as I know where the memory card is and the card reader!

But in all seriousness - you cannot compare the quality of a SLR taken pic to a craptastic iPhone !

After that i'm contemplating casting on a March Sister Pinafore finally...
Haven't decided on whether it will be a "Beth" or a "Jo" yet..

Lets see what the tides bring forth!

Reskeined (and in some instances untangled)

Ok so here is some wooly lushness!

L'arc-en-ciel de Rouges, Bleu et Jaune reskeined

with its matching trim - Desert Pea

What do 100gm of wool and me rushing have in common...

....they end up like this.......

Yummy tangle Porn!
The lovely Déessee Noire tanglement...
But seriously stupid me for chair winding and not tying her up properly..
i reskeined her..
took the pics and ended up with this mess and a total of 10 hrs of untangling.....!!

The first night was the best time untangling because
Mum watched Nate overnight as a treat and I spend it doing this...
all whilst watching all of "The Good Wife" and "House" too!!

So here she is reskeined...
mmmm Déessee Noire.... i
I couldn't get her twisted and sexy like the other one
:( maybe there is a trick to it hahaha

And her hand balled... will do it tomorrow with the winder properly!

And her matching trims - as there's enough for
2 Newborn Vanilla Soakers there and then some leftovers

Lanolin!

I had a yummy parcel arrive today - 3 bottles of liquid lanolin from The Wee Wuns

Monkey Fruits
"Fun and fruity! Starting with a top note of sweet pineapple, banana and orange leading to a heart that combines green apple, coconut rum and dreamy vanilla. Changed the name from the more commonly known name Monkey Farts."

Baby Powder
"This dreamy scent invokes memories of cradling little ones. Very true to J&J`s baby powder"

Natural Sleep Blend
"Top notes of lavender and vanilla essential oils with a hint of lemongrass and sandalwood. A natural, unisex scent that has relaxing aromatherapy benefits. A Most Popular Scent."

So when you place your order, I can - if requested lanolise them in a scent to suit you :)

Galah Trim with Barossa Trim

Desert Pea Trim
Barossa Trim

"L'arc-en-ciel de Rouges, Bleu et Jaune"
which roughly translates to
"The rainbow of Reds, Blue and Yellow"

"Déesse Noire"
which translates to Black Goddess

Cannot wait to have this dried and reskeined then balled up to see how she looks!!

Getting my dye on!

Hey...

I have wool drying atm for 3 NB Vanilla Soakers atm just freshly dyed...

Gosh I cannot believe its been nearly 2 years since I dyed wool last...

And, yeah I have a thing for French.. so expect my colourways to be "French" inspired!

My dyeing expedition today:

I first off threw 100gm 8 ply into the laundry tub to soak.. and then thought whoops I really should have divided that up and skein it out properly.

Each nb soaker only needs 55gm...
40 for body and 15gm contast waistband and leg cuffs....
*note this is only for the NB size knitted in 8ply"

So with the other 100 gm i had,
I skeined up 40 gm for another soaker,
then 15 gm trim for it...
then skeined another 2 x 15 gm trims to go with it.
Much thanks to my darling husband who kept Nathan distracted and cooked dinner as well as turned the skein winder for me while i held the wool and untangled lol!
I put the rest of these skeins in with the other 100gms that were soaking.

I did a boy colour way with the single 40gm lot ... like a Primary colour rainbow .. with blue, red and yellow, letting it muddle a little between the yellow and blue to create a nice green.
Which I have aptly named
"L'arc-en-ciel de Rouges, Bleu et Jaune" which roughly translates to
"The rainbow of Reds, Blue and Yellow"

And then I dyed the Big 100gm lot - realising I would have enough there to do two soaker bodies and have some leftovers!

This little beauty has been named:
"Déesse Noire" - which translates to Black Goddess

With a mix of Fuschia, Black, Tuquoise and a grapey purple

One of the soakers will have a matching Barossa Trim - "Sombre Viole"

And the other will have a bright pink -
"Fuschia Brillant"

I cannot wait to get this dryed to take some photos in the daylight and reskein to take some more!

I will upload pics of the wet wool, these have been taken with my iPhone, so excuse the poor quality!
